Established in the mid-1800s, Phillips Farms began as a typical small farm in the country. We raised a little of everything. As times changed we focused on some things over the others.

In 1995, when I took over the family farm, we planted the 150 acres of land and greenhouses with everything from garden flowers to carrots and brussel sprouts to strawberries and peaches. Today the farm has grown to over 200 acres and we feed thousands of families by bringing our farm-fresh food to them the traditional way: at our farm stand and at local farmer's markets.

Recently, our farm was recognized by the state of New Jersey as part of the Garden State Farmland Preservation Trust Program. This meant our farm would be protected so that you, your children and your grandchildren would enjoy the benefits of fresh, local food for generations to come.

Things like plant diseases, weeds and crop-destroying insects are a very real part of farming in this part of the country. Phillips Farms has been acknowledged for its outstanding farm practices using the sustainable approach of Integrated Pest Management (IPM). I focus my attention on controlling pests and crop disease by methods such as rotating my crops and disrupting the mating patterns of insects so they can’t reproduce. We use professional crop scouts who monitor our fields and orchards and who make recommendations on an as-needed basis that help to minimize chemical use. The application of pesticides is used only as a last resort. I believe using IPM to prevent problems is the best solution for a healthy environment for everyone, and is part of our ongoing commitment to providing quality produce and products for our customers.

One of our favorite times of year is pick-your-own season where we invite you experience true country charm at its best by picking your own fruits and berries at our farm. Enjoy an inexpensive day out in our serene countryside setting which is famous for its year-round beauty and history.
